Materials

SATIN & SILK
Satin is the OG of Agnes Alex Scrunchie. All of our first styles were created in satin as it is one of our favourite fabrics to sew not to mention how good it feels. Satin refers to the weave, not the textile and is most often characterized as having a soft, shiny finish that is perfect for keeping your hair strong, healthy and split end free!

VELVET
Velvet is one of our favourite fabrics simply for the softness, rich colours and textures it comes in. We have 3 different types of velvet we work with! Ribbed velvet (the Chels, Ribbin, Daisy, Morgane) Soft Velvet (the Mai, Jade, Penelope & more) and Stretch Velvet (the Angelique, Cindy, Margo & More). Velvet is woven on a special loom that weaves two thicknesses of the material at the same time. The two pieces are then cut apart to create the pile effect, and the two lengths of fabric are wound on separate take-up rolls. This complicated process meant that velvet was expensive to make before industrial power looms became available, and well-made velvet remains a fairly costly fabric. Keep in mind due to its ribbed surface, our Ribbed Velvet Scrunchies are much heavier than our other materials.
QUICK-DRY
Most quick-dry fabrics are made from nylon, polyester, or merino wool. These fabrics tend to wick moisture away and dry faster than your standard fabric. Quick-dry fabrics are perfect for the beach, gym and outdoor activities!
COTTON
Cotton is the most popular fabric around the world. It is a soft, fluffy staple fiber that grows in a boll, or protective case, around the seeds of the cotton plants of the genus Gossypium in the mallow family Malvaceae. The fiber is most often spun into yarn or thread and used to make a soft, breathable textile. The use of cotton for fabric is known to date to prehistoric times; fragments of cotton fabric dated to the fifth millennium BC have been found in the Indus Valley Civilization, as well as fabric remnants dated back to 6000 BC in Peru.

POLYESTER
Polyester has been a staple in the fashion world for quite a while now. It is a diverse fabric that can be made up of natural, synthetic or a combination of fibers. Polyester is considered one of the most diverse fabrics which is why it is loved by so many!
DENIM
Denim isn't just for jeans! Denim is a sturdy cotton warp-faced textile in which the weft passes under two or more warp threads. This twill weaving produces a diagonal ribbing that distinguishes it from cotton duck. Denim is available in a range of colors, but the most common denim is indigo denim in which the warp thread is dyed while the weft thread is left white. We currently offer the Laiken in 2 different washes.

SHEER
Sheer organza is shiny, gorgeous, lightweight, very soft! Slight shimmer/shine & soft to touch fabric. This fabric is a beautiful thin breathable fabric that gives us cloud vibes! Try our newest zodiac collection that is all made in our organza!

Care Instructions

HOW TO WASH YOUR SCRUNCHIES
Just like your clothes, your scrunchies are made of fabric and can be washed! For the safety of our scrunchies we have two recommended ways to wash your scrunchies!

HOW TO HAND WASH YOUR SCRUNCHIES

  1. Always separate your lights and darks from each other to wash separately

  2. Place your scrunchies in a large bowl or in the sink

  3. Add water to a large bowl with warm water or plug your sink and fill it up

  4. Add in a few drops of laundry detergent or regular shampoo

  5. Wash them with your hands thoroughly

  6. Rinse the detergent off

  7. Lay them out to dry on top of a towel or hang to dry.

HOW TO HAND WASH YOUR SCRUNCHIES
We do not recommend machine washing rayon, linen, wool or silk. If you are unsure what material your scrunchie is made out of check the product page for details, our material page, or send us an email!
  1. Be sure to not throw in the scrunchies alone into the machine
  2. Place your scrunchie in a laundry bag, net bag or even in an empty pillow case!
  3. Wash on the delicate cycle or choose the hand wash option on your machine
  4. Choose warm or cold water with the lowest spin cycle possible
  5. We always recommend to let them hang dry
SCRUNCHIE CARE

Storing your scrunchies properly can help them last longer. We recommend storing them on a scrunchie holder.

RAINBOW COLLECTION COLOURS

Since the sixteenth century, when German peasants waved it to wish the end of social injustices, the rainbow flag has been a symbol of hope and social change. In the last century, it has been used in Italy by the pacifist movement, in South Africa by the anti-apartheid movement, and worldwide to support the reasons for collaboration and the rights of the LGBT community. For scientists, however, the rainbow is an optical-atmospheric phenomenon that occurs when sunlight passes through the drops of water suspended in the air after a storm. Since Newton's time, the rainbow was thought to contain every color, but that's not true. The next time you look at one, look for poppy red (you won't find it).
